               PROPLAN - Project Scheduling System

PROPLAN is a sophisticated - yet easy to use - computer software
program for the PC. It has been designed by experienced
construction industry people to bring the power of the better
mainframe project schedulers to the PC user. The program has all
the aids to data management that are standard on the better
microcomputer packages - intuitive and "intelligent" menus, a
full screen editor, interactive validation, full error messages,
"bring forward" capabilities, data cloning, "browse" modes, help
screens etc.

PROPLAN accepts full PRECEDENCE DIAGRAM notation with all four
types of lagged RELATIONSHIP between activities as well as four
types of user specified external constraints on the start and
finish dates of each activity. It will handle networks of up to
6000 activities and 2000 hammocks and each network may use up to
16 different user defined work CALENDARS.

MILESTONE or "KEY" DATES may be associated with the start or
finish of the tasks.

Alphanumeric task numbering simplifies the design and maintenance
of the network.

A full "HAMMOCK" capability allows summary reporting by area,
trade or work type.

Multiple projects or subnetworks may be included in one network
and reported on individually or in aggregate.

A Notepad facility allows notes to be appended to a task as a
record of performance, problems encountered or required follow up
action.

Each task may be assigned resources from a library made up of
reusable or consumable resources. Usage may be plotted on the
basis of early, late or average start dates with a lead or lag.

A PERTCOST reporting capability allows the user to enter a BUDGET
COST, PERCENTAGE COMPLETE, COST TODATE and PROJECTED TOTAL COST
against each task. Reports show VARIANCES both TODATE and
PROJECTED. The determination of "earned value" is independent of
time progress so that the costing may parallel any cost
accounting convention.

Validation logic is designed to make updating as "forgiving" as
possible. Logic "conflicts" are isolated so that they do not
invalidate a complete update.

Output may be selected and sorted in many different ways. The Bar
Charts are fully "calendarized" to show durations, floats and
holidays in accordance with each activity's calendar. The
resource usage histograms may be plotted with leads or lags and
on the basis of early, late or average dates.

This Australian produced and supported program is unlike other
PC scheduling packages in that it is a full-fledged
implementation of the Precedence Diagramming concept that has
proved so effective in construction scheduling. A Contractor who
values good Client presentation and continuing job control will
find this package invaluable.
