HVTerminal Windows' OEM TrueType Terminal Fonts - Windows' TrueType Terminal Fonts

TrueType Fonts For Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista/7 Command Windows Terminal ("Command Window") Fonts

Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista/7 allows you to use both Raster and TrueType fonts in Terminal windows and "DOS Boxes". (Windows 3.1/95/98/Me cannot use TrueType fonts in MS-DOS Boxes.)

Raster (bitmap) fonts can also produce better results - provided they include a wide range of character sizes. (TrueType fonts, while scalable, maintain a fixed aspect ratio. This makes it difficult to match Terminal window and screen sizes unless the font is available in different widths.)

The Raster fonts included with Windows often contain just one character size and are not optimised for screen use. A flexible Raster font - like our HVDOSBox font - is usually the best solution. It produces clearer text and has many pixel sizes that allow you to maximise command windows at any screen resolution. (See "Maximum Terminal Size in UXGA Screen".)

While Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista/7 allows you to use TrueType fonts in Terminal windows, very few of the fonts it includes are actually "Command Window" compatible. (See "Necessary Criteria for Fonts to Be Available in a Command Window".) Even fewer produce clear screen text and implement the full OEM PC-8 character set.

HVTerminal - A Hi-Visibility Windows' Terminal TrueType Font

HVTerminal TrueType Terminal Font is a "Command Window" compatible OEM Codepage 437 monospaced TrueType font. It can be used under Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista/7 and provides Terminal windows with the sizing flexibility of a scalable font in three different aspect ratios.

The Licensed version of the HVTerminal suite provides the HVFont in three different widths - Normal, Narrow and Wide - and in a normal width Light version for those who prefer a less dense and bold font.

The Evaluation version includes the same font files with every third alphabetic character replaced by a hollow box.
